- Notes: When you use our note-taking feature, we store the content of your notes locally on your device in the
~/Grinta/notesdirectory as Markdown files. - Search Queries: When you use our search feature, we process your search queries to provide relevant results.
- Shortcuts: When you configure shortcuts, we store these preferences locally on your device.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Data: We may collect information about how you interact with our Service, such as the features you use and the actions you take.
- Clipboard Data: When you use our Clipboard History feature, we temporarily store items from your clipboard to provide you with access to your clipboard history.
- File System Information: When you use our File System Search feature, we access file and folder names on your device to enable search functionality.
2.3 Information Collected Through AI Features
For users of Grinta Pro:
- AI Processing Data: When using AI-powered features such as Notes Copilot, Rephrase AI, and Inline AI, portions of your text may be processed to provide these services.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve our Service
- Process and complete search queries and calculations
- Store and retrieve your notes and clipboard history
- Enable the functionality of our File System Search feature
- Power our AI-enhanced features (for Grinta Pro users)
- Monitor and analyze usage patterns and trends to improve user experience
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 Local Storage
- Notes are stored locally on your device in
~/Grinta/notesdirectory as Markdown files - Preferences and settings are stored locally on your device
- Clipboard history is temporarily stored in local memory
4.2 Security Measures
For Grinta Pro users:
- Your notes remain local and encrypted
- AI processing uses anonymized snippets only
- You can disable AI features completely in Settings
5. Sharing of Your Information
Grinta is designed with privacy in mind:
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties
- When you use our Web Search feature, your query may be sent to the search engine provider
- When you use our AI Search powered by scira.ai, your query is sent to scira.ai to process your request
6. Third-Party Services
Our Service integrates with several third-party services:
- Web Search: When you use web search, your queries are processed by search engine providers
- AI Search: When you use AI search, your queries are processed by scira.ai
- SuperWhisper: If you choose to use the Speech to Text feature, you will need to install SuperWhisper, which has its own privacy policy
- Obsidian: If you choose to access your notes through Obsidian, please refer to Obsidian’s privacy policy
7. Your Choices
You have several choices regarding your information:
- You can use Incognito Mode to search the web without saving your search history by pressing
Command+P - You can disable AI features completely in Settings (for Grinta Pro users)
- You can access and modify your notes directly in the
~/Grinta/notesdirectory
8. Children’s Privacy
Our Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Effective Date” at the top of this Privacy Policy.
